TCO Fly Shop in State College, Pennsylvania, is the go-to outfitter for anglers fishing the storied limestone spring creeks of central Pennsylvania, a region widely regarded as the birthplace of American fly fishing. The shop sits within easy reach of Spring Creek, Penns Creek, the Little Juniata River, and Spruce Creek, waterways that have shaped fly fishing technique and entomology study for over a century. The staff at TCO includes competitive fly anglers and dedicated entomologists who bring a level of technical depth that matches the sophistication of the fish they pursue.
The retail space is organized with the serious fly fisher in mind. The fly department is one of the finest in the eastern United States, stocking patterns from nationally recognized tyers alongside house-tied flies developed specifically for the sulphur, Trico, and Blue-Winged Olive hatches that define central Pennsylvania fishing. The rod selection includes offerings from both major manufacturers and boutique builders, with an emphasis on the moderate-action rods that excel in the short-range, drag-free drift presentations demanded by limestone creek trout. A comprehensive tying materials section supports the region's strong tradition of fly innovation. Guided trips cover all of the major spring creeks within an hour's drive, and the guides are adept at adjusting tactics as conditions shift from dry-fly hatches to subsurface feeding patterns. TCO also hosts an annual fly fishing film festival, regular tying clinics, and in-store presentations that connect the local angling community. For anyone visiting the region that gave American fly fishing its intellectual foundations, TCO is the essential first stop.
“I wanted to learn how to euro-nymph, so I got in touch with TCO. They helped me book an all day trip on Spring Creek with Dave Bowers, which turned out to be one of the best fishing experiences I’ve ever had. Dave is an incredible instructor who explained how to handle the line and make different types of cast. He was consistently positive, providing encouragement and guidance. Once we were fishing, he worked with me to become proficient in the technique and to correct several bad habits I’d developed in hook setting and landing a fish. As the day went on, Dave made adjustments which improved my success. On top of everything else, I found Dave to be the epitome of fishing etiquette; making sure that we didn’t interfere with anyone else’s enjoyment of the day. A five star review for TCO and Dave isn’t nearly positive enough!”
“I tried commenting g and got CUT OFF! Suffice it to say, I’m DONE with MULTI LOCATION SHOPS who have to “SPLIT ORDERS”! Part of which STILL HASN’T arrived! This is why I’ve always dealt with SINGLE LOCATION shops trying to “eek out” their living, Apparently NOT YOU! This “SPLIT” has really set me back, not that you CARE, or know what the “RIGHT HAND IS DOING, my FIRST AND LAST ORDER or in this case TWO order. A. Gelman Montana Siri your response is exactly what I expected it to be a repeat of already I knew with no solutions involved. This order I believe was originally placed on the 14th. I could be mistaken but around the 14th if not the 14th today’s the 21st that’s a week one week and the latest update. I have still from the United States parcel service is that it’s somewhere between Chicago Illinois, and Montana which means they expected delivery today certainly ain’t happening. I don’t know why you bothered to give a response that actually has nothing to do except to state your policy, which says I believe your business policy is to do this and do that by having multiple stores when in reality it’s exactly what caused the problem and one more reason why you’ll never hear from me again after and if this order gets delivered, believe me, sir I know bullshit when I hear it”
